Here is a photo of the Pallet house that our neighbor built for us a couple weekends ago. We were finally able to build a pen around it yesterday. Not a moment too soon either, Darryl Faye is ready to pop. All day yesterday she couldn't get comfortable, and she's definately starting to bag up. I completely expect babies by the time we get home from work on monday night.
The front view of the house, and sheep chicken in there eating side by side with Darryl Faye
She's got 11 nipples 6 on one side 5 on the other. I just hope she doesn't have more than 11 piglets. We've decided to probably keep two of her daughters for meat in the fall. I know I shouldn't count my piglets before they hatch... but things should go alright.
Here's the view that we're going to be seeing a lot of in the next few weeks, only with little piglets attached to each on of these. This is what Darryl Faye looked like most of yesterday.
Sheep chicken used to hang out with the sheep. She shunned her own kind for a more pastoral lifestyle. But lately it looks like she's gone to the pigs!
